Daily Planning

This is my war room where I decide the daily strategy. I have my map and various intelligence I have picked up. Today’s goal is to make it to orientation and then back to my apartment. I will then attempt to drive to the commissary to buy paper towels and trash bags. If things go well, I might try to find the dry cleaners. Thankfully one of my coworkers has let me borrow his car for a few weeks.

Tap Water and Chili’s

Milk is only thing in house to drink and I don’t like Milk so I drank some tap water. Water was salty, sour and altogether nasty. Today I learned there are two types of water….Sweet water and reclaimed water. I drank reclaimed water which is used for showers, bathrooms and dishwashers. It’s potable, but doesn’t taste very good.

Went to Chili’s for lunch with coworkers because it is best restaurant on camp. Being the best makes me a little worried about the other restaurants. Apparently I showed up during a chips and salsa famine. For over a week, Chili’s has had no chips and salsa.

My flight

A few snippets from my flight to Saudi Arabia. I have to admit flying business class is very easy and very comfortable.

Emirates flight had a bar and lounge where I got to do some bar tending.

I chose to have my wine before, during and after dinner.

I chose the Saudi Arabian dish for all my meals.

1 hour to Departure

Made it to the airport. Both checked bags were expertly packed by Charlotte and just under the max weight limit. Carry on bag was flagged going through security. The seven boxes of Reece’s pieces laying on top were not deemed a threat to security. Hanging out in the executive lounge with my whiskey and coke waiting to board my flight.

Economy line was ridiculous. Don’t know if I would have made my flight. Business class line took 5 minutes to check bag.

Employed Again

I’m on my way to the airport. I realized today is technically my first day of work. I have not worked for a month and it was great. I Figured out what Island time is all about.  When I was working, I was lucky to catch the tail end of happy hour.  When not working I was waiting around for happy hour to start

Housing

Three days until my flight to the Kingdom. Housing assignment is a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath – 1500 sq ft apartment. Pictures were sent to me as examples of what it may look like. The furnishings come for free for 4 months then Charlotte gets to decorate anyway she wants when she arrives in February.

Not Owning a Vehicle is so Millennial

I sold my truck. It is my last vehicle to be sold. It is going to a vacation house in Colorado. Charlotte’s Lexus went to a neighbor of a friend in League City. 1997 4 runner went to my brother in Forth Worth ready for new teen drivers. One ATV went to a cousin. Second ATV was planned to be sold, but after a successful carburetor fix and a day of kids driving it around the house it is slated for future off road Adventures.
I have not been without a vehicle since high school. Now to get an Uber so I can get back home.
